Bay Window Restraint North West London
Newman’s were contact by a domestic private home owner who had noticed cracking had occured interanally and externally around the bay window, and were becoming very worried about the cause of the cracking.
MD Steve Newman booked in a survey for the following day ensuring a quick repsonse and a repair specification with detailed method statement and quotation was proposed the same day.
The bay window was moving outwards due to inadequate tying in of the masonry to the bay window, with no restraint being offered at the floor joist.
The repair specifcation comprised of helical bed joint reinforcement to create deep masonry beams and tying the bay back into to the main structure with the bars being being returned to the internal front wall to provide adequate restraint.
As well as local render repairs and decorating the works were completed within 4 days offering a hidden permanant bay window restraint that was guaranteed against failure for 10 years.
