Masonry Beaming Middlesex
Newman’s have gained a superior reputation with many surveyors and structural engineers across London and the South East. We were recommended by a building surveyor for whom we do much repeat business and were asked to give advice and design a repair scheme for this large manor house in Middlesex.
A Structural Survey was carried out by one of our permanent London based surveyors from our head office in Hammersmith and Lintel failure was identified as the cause of cracking to the brickwork and render to the front elevation and west wing.
Being a Twistfix approved contractor we have access to the only helical repair system that has undergone BRE testing which enables us to ensure that the repair system designed by ourselves providing an engineered solution.
Using the Twistfix Bed Joint Reinforcement we were able to create lintels within the existing masonry by inserting 2 No helical rods encompassed in masonry reinforcement grout installed in pairs above the failed lintel ensuring the downward forces which caused the original lintel to fail are now distributed across the bar into sound masonry which prevents further structural damage.
Areas of separation were also repaired using Twistfix helical bar by installing masonry beaming across the crack which effectively stitches the crack and prevents further separation.
Original quotations provided to the client lead the client to believe the only method for repair was to remove and rebuild, which in some instances is the only option, in this scenario it was far less invasive and time consuming to use a modern method of repair.
The Lintel Reinforcement scheme was guaranteed with one of the only genuine insurance backed guarantee for structural repair works by Insured Guarantees Limited who Newman’s are approved by.
