Brick Restoration
As part of an extensive programme of works at London’s Whipps Cross Hospital, Newman’s are carry out brick restoration to a huge area of wall.
In our opinion brick is the most visually appealing building material. Unfortunately due to failed mortar, water ingress and years of exposure to the elements, in particular the freeze thaw effects of winter, brick faces can become damaged and unsightly.
Our skilled team repair the face of the bricks using Steadfast Brick Repair Mortar and Brick Tinting products. Where the damage is particularly deep, helical, stainless steel reinforcing pins are also used to give the repair additional strength. Being high-grade stainless steel the pins will not rust and cause the bricks to blow in the future.
The entire damaged area is filled and repaired with the brick repair mortar and the mortar joint is skillfully recreated.
Custom brick tint colours are then mixed to match the colours of the existing bricks and mortar joints. Where necessary several colours will be mixed to match the walls natural variation.
The brick finished wall looks like natural brick and because the surface is tinted rather than painted, the bricks remain semi-permeable, able to breathe and yet are waterproof.
