Structural Repairs, London and The South West
Newman’s are now into our busiest month of this current year with our Structural Repair team’s extremely busy repairing failed masonry across the country. We’re happy to report our Bristol operation has grown rapidly with orders coming in across the South West and Wales.
Our London office has procured a vast amount of Structural Repair works which are underway such as Concrete Repairs using Rope Access to a 14 storey tower block. We carried out a Rope Access Concrete Inspection last year and have now been instructed to repair the defects.
We have also begun a Wall Tie Replacement scheme to 15 commercial units in Brent, North West London using the Twistfix Patented CD wall Dry fixed Wall Tie which is installed through a pilot hole to become instantly load bearing along with their Clan sleeve which encompass the failed tie in a resin to prevent further corrosion.
Works are on-going in Oxford carrying out Subsidence Repairs using traditional underpinning combined with Twistfix Helibars creating load bearing masonry beams within the brickwork to distribute the altered structural loads and prevent further cracking. As well as Helibars being installed to create masonry beams they are also being used to tie the outer leaf of brickwork to the internal walls resisting further cracking.
Concrete Repairs are still underway in Westbay, Dorset procured by our Bristol office the contract has been extended for another 8 weeks with additional Concrete Repairs and walkway coatings to the flats. Alkali Attack has caused extensive damage to the concrete which requires repairs and Sacrificial anodes to prevent further Concrete Failure.
As well as commercial Structural Repair projects we have a range of domestic Structural Repairs underway. This 10 day project in Exmouth, Devon requires the installation of Helibars to distribute structural loads and tie external walls to internal along with Lateral Restraint ties installed internally and the installation of Twistfix Cavity Wall Ties and grout injection to stabilise the masonry.
